“I’ve Seen the Lord!”

John 20:1–18

Mary Magdalene stood alone, weeping by the tomb. She turned around. There was Jesus! But Mary thought he was the gardener. “Sir,” she said, “have you taken away my Lord? Tell me where you’ve laid him.”

Jesus said to her, “Mary.”

“Teacher!”

“Don’t hold onto me,” he said. “I haven’t yet gone up to my Father. Go and tell my brothers this: I’m going up to my Father and your Father. I’m going to my God and your God.”

Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I’ve seen the Lord!” She told them what had happened.

Questions: What did Mary think had happened to Jesus? Where did Jesus say he was going?
