Day 281
“Hosanna in the Highest Heaven!”
Luke 19:36–44
Jesus rode down the Mount of Olives. People covered the path with their cloaks. Others spread palm leaves in the way. They praised God loudly and joyfully: “Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
Some of the Pharisees said, “Teacher, order your disciples to stop.”
He answered, “I tell you, if they were silent, the stones would shout.”
Then Jesus saw Jerusalem and wept. “Your enemies will tear you down stone by stone,” he said, “because you didn’t notice the day God visited you.”
Questions: What did Jesus say would happen if the people were silent? Why did Jesus weep when he saw Jerusalem?
