Day 246
The Man of Unclean Spirits
Mark 5:6–20
The man with the unclean spirit spied Jesus. He screamed and shouted: “What do you have to do with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God?”
“Come out of him, you unclean spirit!” Jesus commanded.
“I beg you in God’s name, don’t make me suffer,” it answered.
“What’s your name?” Jesus asked the spirit.
“It’s Legion because there are many of us in this man. Please, don’t send us away.”
Nearby grazed a herd of pigs. “Let us enter into the pigs,” the spirits begged. Jesus gave them permission. The legion of spirits came out of the man, entering the pigs, and all of the animals rushed down the hill and into the sea.
People found the man of unclean spirits fully clothed and sitting in his right mind with Jesus. They were afraid and pleaded with Jesus, “Go away!”
Before leaving, Jesus spoke to the man. “Go home. Tell your friends how much the Lord has done for you.” The man went to ten cities telling what Jesus had done.
Questions: What happened when the spirits entered the pigs? What did the man who had the spirits do after Jesus left?
