Day 157

The Law Is Taught in Judah

2 Chronicles 12:1–17:9

South of Israel was the kingdom of Judah. Its main city was Jerusalem. There stood Solomon’s temple and the king’s palace. Rehoboam was Solomon’s son. He and his son after him left the Lord, and Judah suffered. Then Asa, Rehoboam’s grandson, became king. He rebuilt the altar that had rotted away and began proper worship. He burned all the idols in the land. But when he died, idol worship returned.

Jehoshaphat was Asa’s son. His heart was brave in the Lord’s ways. He, too, destroyed the idols. He sent men throughout the land teaching the Lord’s law.

Questions: Why did Judah suffer? What did Jehoshaphat do in Judah?
