Day 154

A Fish Spits out Jonah

Jonah 1:11–2:10

The waves were running high. The ship was in danger. “What shall we do to calm the sea?” the sailors asked.

“Throw me into the sea,” Jonah answered. “I’ve caused this trouble.” But the sailors tried to row to shore. Finally, they could do no more. Praying for forgiveness, they threw Jonah overboard. Immediately, the sea stopped raging.

The Lord sent a big fish to swallow Jonah. He was in its belly for three days and nights. Jonah prayed to God from within the fish. The Lord spoke to the fish. It spit Jonah onto the beach.

Questions: What happened when Jonah was thrown into the sea? What did Jonah do when he was in the fish?
