Day 103

God Rips Away the Kingdom

1 Samuel 15:1–35

Saul defeated the Philistines. He also drove back all of Israel’s enemies. Finally, Israel had peace.

But there was one more tribe to fight. God wanted the Amalekites totally destroyed. Saul’s army demolished their city but saved the animals for sacrifices. Samuel heard of this. He told Saul, “God wants your obedience more than your sacrifices. He has rejected you as king.” As Samuel turned to leave, Saul grabbed and ripped his robe. Then Samuel spoke to Saul for the last time: “Today God has ripped your kingdom from you and given it to a better man.”

Questions: What is more important to God than sacrifices? What happened to Saul’s kingdom?
