Day 88

The Strongman’s Secret

Judges 16:6–15

Three times Delilah begged Samson, “Tell me the secret of your strength.” Each time, the Philistines couldn’t hold him.

“Tie me with fresh bowstrings,” Samson said. But he broke them like burning string.

“Tie me with new ropes. Then I’ll lose my strength.” But he broke these ropes like thread.

“Weave my hair into your loom like cloth. Then I’ll be like everyone else.” While Samson slept, Delilah wove. But when the Philistines tried to capture him, Samson broke the loom.

“How can you tell me you love me?” Delilah cried. “You’ve lied to me.”

Questions: Why did Delilah want to know the secret of Samson’s strength? Do you think she loved Samson?
