Water Springs from a Rock

Exodus 17:1–7

The people of Israel were traveling through a huge desert. Water was very hard to find. Their children cried for water. The people yelled at Moses, “Give us water! Did you bring us out of Egypt so we would die?”

So Moses called on God. “What shall I do? They may kill me over water.”

“Bring the staff you used at the Red Sea,” God said. “I’ll be standing on the rock at Horeb. Hit the rock with your staff and water will flow out.”

Moses did this and all Israel drank the water.

Questions: Why did the people yell at Moses? Where did they get water?
