WHAT IS A REPORT?
The purpose of a report is to convey information — factually, briefly, and clearly. If you're in college, you'll be asked to write one on some aspect of your course.
As with every other type of writing, there are certain elements that must be included — follow the advice below to make sure you submit the best report possible.
All reports involve the communication of information from senders to receivers, and a successful report should:
• communicate information to show what has been done or to suggest what should be done
• provide a permanent record of findings, conclusions, and recommendations
• contain accurate information
• contain complete information that is organized in a logical way
• contain findings that are supported by the information in the report
• make recommendations that are based on the findings
